When the vines get their springtime start, it’s usually called “bud-break”. In years like this it’s called “BUD-BURST”! Almost every shoot in the Jodar vineyard has flower clusters, and most of them are primed to produce two bunches of grapes. In fact, we’ve never seen so many shoots volunteering to try for three bunches which is a rarity. It may become prudent to reduce crop in some areas, but there’s no denying that these vines are happy.
Also, if you haven’t been to the tasting room in the last 10 days, get ready for a gorgeous floral display . . . just in time for our Mother’s Day brunch.
(RSVP to the tasting room at (530) 644-3474 if you haven’t already.)
Spring is everywhere and it’s time to start celebrating. After Mother’s Day comes the outdoor BBQ of blue cheese burgers on Memorial Day Weekend followed by the 2011 Barbera release on June 7.
Some of you have asked for more advance notice of releases, so mark it on your June calendar. You don’t want to miss this one; it’s another Cherry Bomb. Speaking of Barbera, I wonder which kind of wine pairs nicely with the ribs Wayne is grilling on Father’s Day? It sounds like a good day NOT to wear a white shirt.
